Robertson Drives a Car with Meaning: New sponsorship for 2010 season at Bowman Gray

March 4, 2010

Asheboro, NC: Ryan Robertson driver of the #31 Carolina Wood Floors/ WSSU Motorsport Management raced at Caraway Winston-Salem, NC: Robertson Motorsports is proud to announce a new sponsorship with The Law offices of Timothy D. Welborn, PA and the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central and Western North Carolina.   Ryan Robertson will be the primary driver of the #23 Timothy D. Welborn/Make-A-Wish Chevrolet at Bowman Gray Stadium for the 2010 season.

The #23 black and blue paint scheme will be sporting the logos of Timothy D. Welborn, Make-A-Wish, ICE Epilepsy Alliance, and Carolina Wood Floors, all local companies.  The Make-A-Wish car was unveiled last fall at Lowe’s Motor Speedway as part of the events for the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup race that same weekend.   The unveiling of the new car served as a fundraiser for the Central and Western North Carolina Make-A-Wish Foundation and allowed for fans to get close to the up and coming driver. The opportunity for both an association with racing and the local Make-A-Wish chapter was something that appealed to Welborn.

Timothy D. Welborn, PA is a local attorney with a strong reputation for local community support, and a keen personal interest in racing.   Welborn’s areas of practice cover Personal Injury, Social Security/Disability and Workers’ Compensation.  The firm has offices in both Wilkesboro and Winston-Salem.  Welborn is involved in several non-profit organizations within the community, with a particular interest in those benefitting the lives of children.

“Bowman Gray is a real part of racing history here in North Carolina.  I am excited to be able to tie my involvement in the community to racing, and still bring awareness to the work of the people at Make-A-Wish and ICE Epilepsy Alliance.” said Welborn.  “We share the mission with the Robertson family to get the word out.”

The Robertson family is very familiar with Bowman Gray Stadium.  The Robertsons’ made history at Bowman Gray in 2007, becoming the first family to have three generations running on the same night.  The newest generation, 23 year old Ryan, has over 50 starts here in his career, finishing 7th in the point standings in 2007.  Robertson has spent the last couple of seasons heating up other short tracks around the state, including several appearances in the UARA-Stars Series.

“This is such a thrill for us,” said team owner Mike Robertson.  “Our family has raced at this track for three generations now.  Carolina Wood Floors has supported us here for the past three seasons, and remains a terrific partner.   Now, to be able to field a second car, this will be a real honor.  We’re thankful for everyone who has supported us over the years, and look forward to a great 2010 season.”

The #23 car will debut in the upcoming Lewisville Easter Festival to benefit Make-A-Wish on Saturday, April 3rd.  It will hit the track for the first race of the season with Bowman Gray Stadium’s opening date on April 24th.
